You're right that I shouldn't have told you to shut up, Duff. It isn't my place to tell you whatto fight about or not. I apologize for that.
Page One of Introduce Yourself
But...it had NOTHING to do with trying to put you in 'your place', or any of the other racialcrap you suggested. It had to do with trying to keep you out of the one I just vacated.

Do what you want, Duff. Just acknowledge that you are choosing this. Or heck...don't.

Take care.

Maybe we should ALL turn it back to that purpose, Crimson. A way fornewcomers and old timers to get to know each other. Let's all drop the angstand recriminations for a while.

In which spirit, allow me to introduce myself. I'm thirty years old, Australian, a little likeTom Cruise (in that we're both married to tall, red-headed Aussies), I live in Melbourne, assessed in 1991 as the world's most livable city, and so on. My user name is basically my realname (William).

I work in financial services, but am actually quite extraverted, in that when I talk I look atthe other person's shoes. My politics are basically left of centre, although moderately so. (Itend to favour govts with little intervention in the market but some responsibility for thesocial fabric.) My personal philosophy owes much to Wittgenstein, and is hard to describebeyond that. (Yes, that counts as a description.)

Well, the largest Christian denomination is Roman Catholic, and the second largest isex-Catholic; I too was BUC (Brought Up Catholic), left when I was sixteen to join an eccentric, basically Fundamentalist sect, later sort of slid into a mainstream Protestant position beforerunning through an intense period of questioning that took about a year. I'm now anatheist. My wife is a Christian and attends a local Baptist church.

My interests include religion (I usually post on the Faith board), history, philosophy, economics, mathematics etc. (As you can imagine, I'm a riot at parties.) Politics too, althoughbeing in a different country, I don't really connect with much of this board. I also enjoy astrategy game called Diplomacy, which combines the best features of chess, poker and aknife brawl. I also play squash, which combines the best features of chess with kneecartilage damage and the risk of a fatal coronary.

I have three brothers, one sister, and a morbid fascination for family reunions. At school Iwas voted Boy Most Likely to Evolve into a Creature of Pure Energy.

And that's how I got here. J

Blackricco,

My image on Duh's page is from a painting. It's in oils on board. The camera is because itwas a self-portrait, (I shot the photo in a mirror) and I'd rather look at a photo to paintfrom than look in a mirror for days. ;) It was the only thing I had that was already a jpegto send to Duh.

I gallery paint using oils. I'm fortunate in being able to work at home in a studio I've setup (thanks to 'himself', the carpenter, *G*).

My son's a photographer. At least that's what his degree is in.......now if I could just gethim to finish setting up his darkroom.

Seriously, I think on the whole the US gets reasonable press here. Better than in most ofthe world, anyway. Our cultures have a lot of similarities. Great idea, Dave...and because I'm a little bored and have nothing better to do at themoment, I'm going to RE-introduce myself. What fun, eh? I think we should ALL dothis...even you Dave....OKAY???? *G*G*G*G*

I was born in a small town in Southern Illinois, in 1945. It was the best of times, it was theworst of times. LOLOLOL (had ya going, didn't I...hehe)...I could make this a 10,000 wordautobiography. That'd scare anyone from posting on this thread ever again. LOL...

Okay, briefly again, for anyone who doesn't know a little about me by now. I'm 54 yearsold. Married 29 years this month (wow, can't believe it! lol)...three grown children, ages29, 22 and 17. Two beautiful grandchildren, ages 11 and 5 (my baby started kindergartenthis year - she's adorable). I really want to show you all pictures of the kids and grandkids- one of these days, when my son takes the time to scan more pictures, I will beg Ms Dustyto post them on her picture pages.

Anyway, my political affiliation is Democrat (fairly liberal on most things). I'm votingfor Bradley in the primary, because I don't like Gore all that much - too stiff - too"politicial machine". I like Bradley. He seems sincere and I like most of his stands on theissues.

I work for a State University, as an Administrative Assistant (fancy title for clerical, Isuppose). I'm going to retire this year (in Sept) and enjoy my grandkids more often. Ican't wait.

Guess that's enough for now. :-)

Okay, Billy. Good answer, but you did send us "Crocodile Dundee II."

Good to see you taking the hard shots there, Snow Pea, I mean, Cactus Jck was just hangin'out there, begging for a potshot...

Actually, Aussie film making is pretty good at the moment. I'm not sure it appeals to aHollywood taste, though. As Demi Moore apparently said to Russell Crowe, "But Russell -where's the fantasy?"

(If, however, you don't mind that, may I recommend Romper Stomper, or The Sum of Us,both with Russell Crowe - he'd better get an Oscar for The Insider, I'm still annoyed thathe didn't even get nominated for L.A. Confidential), and Muriel's Wedding or Priscilla,Queen of the Desert, for something more lighthearted.

Oh, and Kylie Minogue.

Kylie, scarily enough, now has street cred. Her last work has achieved something of acrossover (I regard her song Confide In Me as her best work). She started in one of oursoaps, Neighbours (as did Natalie Imbruglia, but she decided to get the cred beforestarting the singing career).

We have a different approach to soaps than you guys. Your soaps in the 80s were bigbudget, lifestyles of the rich and famous, pull out all the stops. Your 90s soaps were allrelationships, beautiful young people, bedhopping etc. Our soaps have sotrylines like"Monday: Bobby gets a haircut." Exciting stuff.

And "Priscilla" is another FAVE film. I still can't believe that was Terrence Stamp. Haven'tseen some of the others you mentioned, but "Romper Stomper" is at my video store so I'llcheck it out.

Okay, well in the spirit of new beginnings I'll reintroduce myself as well.

Hi, my name is Lara Croft, I'm a computer super babe hero. I'm somewhere between 25and 36, depending on what passport I'm using.

I'm unmarried as all my love interests have died in the line of duty. I have no children. It's rather tough to get pregnant when everytime you reach the threshold of conception, some mean and evil, bad and nasty midget with an Uzi, throws open your bedroom doorsand shouts "Honey, I'm hooooome," and so it goes in the life of a computer super babehero.

I stand for truth, liberty, the pursuit of justice and the American way. I also stand duringthe flag salute, when the pope walks by and at most rock concerts.

Truth can be told now, I am not faster than a speeding bullet; I haven't been laid up withpneumonia; I was mortally wounded in an ambush sprung by the evil Dr. Canker Sore andhave been holed up in my hideout, mending and eating chicken soup.

My latest love interest, Lance Neverlimp, God bless him, was killed in that ambush andI've vowed to seek revenge the moment I'm able to walk again.

I sought healing from Oral Roberts and I can report that I am now able to play the piano, but still can't walk.

My hobbies are baton twirling, talking with the girls, and collecting beers of the world. My goals in life are to save the children and to never need Depends.

I be a Duh. I make my way through the world and do the best that I know how. I'm liberal, but not a really typical one. Best way to describe me is that I am starting to be just a littleannoyed with this reality, and that I try to make it better in a hundred different littleways. I am flawed. But I recognized it most of the time. I am educated. But I need not keepreminding everybody in order to convince myself of it. I've had hard times. But I neednot let it keep me from a satisfying life. I am never content. But I believe one needsobstacles to keep one strong. I believe in feeling good. But I am not afraid of feeling bad. Iam just afraid of feeling nothing. Love animals, but not so jazzed on the people thing. There is nothing that cannot be amusing or helped by laughter, although one must knowwhen to keep it to themselves out of respect for the sensibilities of others. And I likeactifed because it helps my allergies.

Snake, Cooter Brown is an imbiber of prodigious proportions. He is said to be able tooutdrink the Ole Miss Band and still walk a straight line. Ole Cooter has been known to beintoxicated on occasion, but that takes a quantity of adult beverages the like of which hasseldom been seen in these parts. When that does occur, lock up the children and get thewomen off the streets!

Hi my name is Carmen, I live in Tampa, Florida. I just got married in September when Iwas 8 months pregnant, a couple weeks after I got married I had a baby girl (that soundsbad dosen't it). I plan on going back to college soon. My husband just graduated from hisschool so hopefully he will be the first one out of both of us to get a decent job. Right nowwe live in one of those neighborhoods that if you walk outside at night you might get shot(I hope this dosn't sound like I'm complaining). I know I might sound like a loser to someof you but I am at least trying to turn my life around, its just not easy with a baby. Aboutpolitics I am usually a democrat but I want to vote for McCain if he gets nominated. Ireally admire McCain just for who he is and because if he became president I know hewould really change things for the better. If I met G.W.Bush I would probably want toblacken his eye or hurt him really badly. As for what I do for fun, you're looking at it,although I do enjoy a little music from time to time (techno). I am also looking forward togoing back to school because I think that would be fun (anything but sitting at home). Ialso like football, The Tampabay Buccaneers are my favorite team of coarse and I hopethey make it to the Superbowl next year.

Technical writer in the Denver metro area. I eke out a little bit of other writing, mainlytravel articles, but have been working on a novel that I still hope to finish one day. Mywife and I would be DINKs-double income, no kids, though usually one or the other of usis pursuing some project which precludes full time employment.

Could have been in Vietnam, but I fell neatly between the administrative cracks. Just asthey nullified student deferments and implemented the lottery, I drew a high number andso was able to continue my aimless wandering through youth. Sometimes I feel like Ireally missed out on something, though the vets I share this with look at me like I’m anidiot.

I was a registered Independent, though that aces you out of voting in primaries inColorado so I went to the Dems. I’d call myself pretty soft on that support. Somebody comesup with a fiscal conservative and social moderate not beholden to the extremes of eitherthe left or the right, and they will likely get my vote. (If you’re out there, pleaseannounce your candidacy, now!) My Dream Team might be a McCain-Powell ticket. (dreamon)

Politics, well, I’m all over the map. It would be impossible to summarize that very easily.Government is there to protect us, so I guess I’d sooner go with less government thanmore, though sometimes we need protection from ourselves. I try to let reason guide mychoices, perhaps (happily) the only holdover from a youthful fling with Randism, oops Imean Objectivism.

Christianity never seemed to "take" with me, and I’ve have been attracted to Yoga and, more recently, Buddhism. When I lived in Boulder in the 70s, I was a bit turned off by thestyle of Buddhism taught there, so stayed on its periphery. I’ve explored the principles ofZen over the years, and find that the principles and practice strike a chord with me thatnothing else has.

Freedom is my philosophy. Without freedom, nothing else is possible.

I could shake hands or hug any leader whose vision has transcended the commonplace:Sadat, MLK, Gandhi. Where is someone who is still alive that I could say this about?

Well, I guess I’d have to line up a bunch of people and do a Three Stooges group slap.Howard Stern, Dennis Rodman, Donald Trump, and Rush Limbaugh would occupy places ofhonor, but I guess I’d slot in our Commander-in-Chief for squandering an historicopportunity to remold the Post-Cold War world, and Newt, for letting ego override talent.

I forget how long I’ve been on the Pathfinder boards. My addiction began with the Time100 and I enjoy (really!) the international contacts of the T100 and International boards, but the Politics board is too lively a place to stay away from. Every time I try to get out, they pull me right back in!

And Mr. DaveGin, who should be setting an example, is one of the worst offenders.

How can you fight them? You might as well clean the Augean Stables.

No, one must learn to live with the grammatically challenged, and tip-toe among theirmisspellings and bad constructions....and forgive...forgive...forgive.....

I have been around off and on for several years... 3 or 4 maybe? I just had the opportunityto drop back in a couple of days ago...

I home base in Puerto Rico and periodically live aboard my sailboat Swan Song.

I am retired from the navy. I am a partner in a guesthouse with my wife, which is anoff/on type of relationship. I dabble in import/export due to my travels.

I have absolutely no political affiliation... I view all politicians as parisites who could careless, except where it benefits their politics. It comes down to money and power.

I sail and travel.... I write short stories and sell one now and then. I am a sometimespainter and sketch artist... sell some of that stuff too. I like woodworking (sailboatinteriors). I like to hang out in island bars and BS with the locals and suck down somelocal beer as well. And then there are the sunsets....

I cannot say I truly admire anyone in politics since I do not have much faith inpoliticians.

I admit to a creator of some sort... natural process maybe?

What's your philosophy of life? ...if you love a thing, it don't have to love you back

Who would I hug or shake the hand of? I can't just this moment remember the guys name, but he sold out his shares in Netscape and gave 100 million bucks to the educationdepartment of Mississippi... Not too shabby!

Who would I slap? Probably OJ, although it wouldn't change anything.

Oh yeah... I like dogs, but don't have much use for rug rats.

I suppose I will formally introduce myself after innundating the Politic boards with myabsurdities, moos and other nonsense......

Female

44, married to a wonderful husband and also into a wonderful family (yep, I really do getalong with my in-laws!)

Live on a 1500 ac. farm in Iowa, 950 ac. which are row crop. Raise beef cattle (most ofwhich are CharolaisX) and have some hogs- we only fatten and have a 250 headconfinement for that.

We employ a Renegade Amishman here on the farm- he lives in the home place and he ispart of the family!

I work out of my home, doing books for Ag related businesses, other farmers and someindividuals that just don't wanna fool with it. (No, I don't make alot of bucks... I am toodamn nice, I guess) Also, I do some support service for folks with home PCs and also hooksmall networking systems up in small offices....I'm not a real pro- I am just wired for thesethings and love to mess with them..... no formal education in computer science.Experience has taught me everything.

I also work on the farm- my roles consist of deciding which heifers are held back forreplacements and I also look after any baby calves in trouble. I guess you could say that Ikinda keep an eye on the stock herd and call some decisions when need be.

I know some of you have seen my posts about "going" to the field, and if you look in Duh'ssite- my pic is on page 8. I love the field work and will be having horrid board withdrawalwhen planting gets in full swing around here. I will miss you all! But, I am anxious to getback out in the fields.... something about the "life", if ya know what I mean.

I love cattle..... that I make no secret of, nor am shameful of- I have some wonderful petshere- big pets and are the butt of many jokes on the farm. Such as who is really on thedinnerplate....... hahaha!

I am also a serious collector of "cow" figurines, bells and anything related to cows...stuffed animals, too! Yes, I even have the damn Beany Babie cows!!!!! I am missing Tabascoif anyone wants to give him up for a reasonable price!!!! Other beanies suck....

I love the Pathfinder boards because of all of you (well...... not all of ya) and I think this isbetter than the telephone! I love to visit and be ridiculous and have fun... however, I dohave my principles and I stick to them-

I have met and correspond with some wonderful folks her and next door (see, ms Robbie, Idid not say 100s!) and I love ya all!

Thank you all for making me feel welcome!

MOO MOO!!!!!!!

Wow this is a really cool thread. I haven't read threw one in a while. I got through about500 posts, didn't see it before today. it's good to hear about all of you since I took mymaternity leave and was *gone* for 1-1/2 years and am still getting to know the postersafter being "on" for a few months.

Charalois, thank you for coming here, I have never met a cow girl like you, before! I loveyour MOOS!

Anyway, I will play this game, for those of you who don't know me:

"Where do you live?"

The lovely state of New Jersey. Smog, highway tolls and all.

"What do you do for a living? "

I am a mom now. That and being a housewife, that's the rub. But I also have a job threedays a week at a construction company. I am going back to school in June to studyarchaology. I am also an artist, my latest art has been creating quilts.

" Married? Single? Gay? Have children?"

Married, two children, when I'm done being married I plan on becoming a lesbian whohas sex occasionally with men.

"What's your political affiliation?"

Left-leaning independent. Likes the Green party but feels we are stuck with either GOP orDEM. The two-party stronghold is thick.

"What's your philosophy of politics?"

We must protect our freedoms. Freedom of religion and freedom of speech are thecornerstones of our democracy.

"What do you do for fun? What are your interests?"

Party. Dance. Garden. Camp. Go to Pagan Gatherings. Talk to you guys. I am passionateabout the environment.

" Who do you admire most in politics?"

Gosh, that's a hard question. I like Chuck Schumer. I also like John McCain. Ralph Naderhas some great ideas, especially his disgust with corporate culture.

"Who do you admire least?"

Rudy Giuliani, Ralph Reed, Pat Robertson.

" What's your religion?"

Wiccan Pagan who just joined my local Unitarian Church. I wanted the kids to have achance to choose their own religion while learning about all religions and shared values.I would like them to also be Pagan but they don't have to be.

"What's your philosophy of life?"

If it harm none, Do what you will.

"If you could shake the hand or hug one person, from the world of politics, entertainment, sports, or from Pathfinder, who would it be?"

I would probably jump Paul O'Neil's bones, if he was close enough. I once met Joe Montanaand had to restrain myself. I think I would like to shake Bill Clinton's hand because, lovehim or hate him, he has been some piece of work.

"If you could punch or slap one person, from the world of politics, entertainment, sports,or from Pathfinder, who would it be? "

I would love to whack Bob Barr upside the head for attacking Wiccans in the military.

"Anything else you'd like to add?"

Yeah, one of these days I will learn how to format my posts better.

That's all. I'm sure I will be embarrassed enough when I read this later. When I'm sober, anyway, LOL!

Oh yeah, I used to be GreenHag, in my previous incarnation. Now I am "Green Witch" inSpanish in honor of my Puerto Rican ancestors.

[slider] - 10:33pm Mar 30, 2000 EST (#1243 of 2088)
Where do you live?

TN

What do you do for a living?

I work my ass off.

Married? Single? Gay? Have children?

Single

What's your political affiliation?

Democrat, but that has no bearing on how I vote.

What's your philosophy of politics?

Politics should be done away with, and replaced with professional wrestling.

What do you do for fun? What are your interests?

I like to pretend I'm Batman, and on weekends I run naked through the old folks homedown the street. Other than that, I just throw rocks on peoples houses, and watch themcome outside to see if there's a meteor shower.

Who do you admire most in politics?

Gov. Gary Johnson

Who do you admire least?

Orrin Hatch

What's your religion?

I believe in God, but I don't attach any religion to it.

What's your philosophy of life?

I believe we are here to do our best, to ensure, when we leave this world, it's in no worseshape, than it was when we entered it.

If you could shake the hand or hug one person, from the world of politics, entertainment, sports, or from Pathfinder, who would it be?

Joy Philbin.

If you could punch or slap one person, from the world ofpolitics, entertainment, sports, or from Pathfinder, who would it be?

Bill Oriley, From Fox's Oriley Factor.

Anything else you'd like to add?

Yes, please don't throw away your marijuana seeds. Plant them.

Peace.

...its nice to see I have some fellow 'west coast' posters here. I grew up in Hawaii and LongBeach, Cal. I was a bit before the surfers that came about in the 60's and 70's, but my palsand I were at the forefront of the coming evolution. We would trudge from Laguna toSanta Barbara looking for the best beaches and waves.. and girls I might add. The biggerguys who had boards were using the long boards from the islands... big and bulky. Usyounger crowd were making our belly boards out of scrape plywood which was arelatively new material.

Oh yeah... those were the days. Early R & B and west coast jazz... Jerry Mulligan, Stan Getz,Cal Tjader... to name a few. My first car at 16... a '47 ford three window coupe with a '52merc engine and a dago dropped front axial.... yada yada yada.

...great memories

Cool thread, I live in Wisconsin but I don't have a bug deflector on my truck

I'm a mechanical Engineer

Married with two boys ages 5 yrs. and 7 mos.

Political affiliation is a Republican who doesn't think the gov't should have any say inwhether anyone has an abortion or not. If the two positions are not mutually exclusive. :)

Political philosophy = Just leave me alone!!! If you don't socialize health care it doesn'taffect you one way or another whether I smoke, drink, wear a seatbelt, or a helmet on mybike. For fun I like golf, volleyball, and sitting/standing on anything dragged at highspeeds behind my boat.

There is nobody I really admire in politics though McCain is fairly impressive. I admireleast any politician who is in the government because he "always wanted to" but whenthey get there they don't know why they're there. (Clinton comes to mind)

For religion I'm agnostic. It goes with the leave me alone thing. My career is aboutscience and I can't bring myself to believe in magic no matter how long ago the book waswritten.

Philosophy of life = Have fun today, you could be dead tomorrow.

I'd like to shake hands with Reagan, Gingrich, and Nixon. Right or wrong they stood forsomething.

I'd like to slap Dick Gephardt....every time he opens his mouth I am reminded of thisdesire.

The handle is mostly flame bait. I read his book "The way things ought to be" and lostcomplete respect for the guy. He lays out a coherent argument for why the gov't shouldstay out of the way for almost any decision. Then spends several chapters arguing that thegov't should make the abortion decision for you????? Logically indefensible.

Lincoln, Churchill and Truman Both Clintons Raised Catholic - not active in the church now Philosophy of Life? Do or do not - there is no try! I wish I could have hugged Princess Diana - that poor woman seemed vunerable and shehad been through the ringer. Too young to die. I would love to slap O.J. GW: [G. Washington] - 10:07pm Apr 23, 2000 EST (#1254 of 2088)
I'm re-introducing myself, just to see if anything's changed recently. I invite allPathfinder regulars to do the same, just for the hell of it.

Where do you live? Dublin, Ohio (suburb of Columbus). What do you do for a living? Publications manager and editor for a large softwarecompany. Married? Single? Gay? Have children? Married for 20 years. Have 3 children, onein college, one in 8th grade, one in 4th grade. What's your political affiliation? Republican. But I hold a number of positions thatare at variance with the party. For example, abortion. Forgeddabouddit; shouldn'tbe a political issue. Gay rights......gay people should be able to get married, just likehetero people. Flag burning? Stupid issue. Prayer in school? How about learningin school? The kids can pray on their own time. What's your philosophy of politics? Lower taxes, less government....have acoherent foreign policy, based on our national interests. Honor and support themilitary and our men and women in uniform...they have saved our butts in thepast...they will do so again. I also believe that criminals and bad guys will alwayshave guns. Putting guns in the hands of decent, law-abiding people deters crimeand enables them to defend themselves against the bad people. What do you do for fun? What are your interests? I've become cuckoo over soccer. Iplay goalkeeper in an over-30, coed league. The league games are the highlight ofmy week. My favorite TV show is English Premier League Soccer on ESPN. Afterwatching it, I go around talking with an English accent (Sheffield or Manchester)for the rest of the evening. Who do you admire most in politics? Who do you admire least? I admire GeorgeWashington, our first (and greatest president). I also admire Ronald Reagan. I usedto admire Newt Gingrich. Admire least? Ted Kennedy...Chris Dodd...Barbara Boxer... What's your religion? Buddhist. (Wife is Methodist.) What's your philosophy of life? We're here to attain enlightenment. Everythingwe do matters a lot. Life is important and a great gift; don't fritter it away. If you could shake the hand or hug one person, from the world of politics, entertainment, sports, or from Pathfinder, who would it be? I admire Tom Hankstremendously as an actor, but his politics leave much to be desired. I admireCharlton Heston a lot as a person. He's not bad as an actor, either. If you could punch or slap one person, from the world of politics, entertainment, sports, or from Pathfinder, who would it be? Barbra Streisand. I'd also like to cuffJanet Reno for being such a clueless boob during the Waco incident in '93. And AlSharpton. Anything else you'd like to add? Yeah. Pete Rose belongs in the Baseball Hall ofFame.

Portland, OR White collar drone Single I’m a man without a party. For instance, I look at the Religious Right leaders moreas joke punchlines than anything else, but I also can’t stand wonton waste of taxmoney (I’m too Scottish to waste anything). I support funding such things aspublic transit, community development, etc. as long as money actually goes towardthose purposes and not bureaucracy. My political philosophy: Take the time to vote even if you don’t think it makes adifference Hiking, biking, working out, hanging out, reading, music, Time & EntertainmentWeekly bulletin boards Yeah, I’m playing favorites, but I actually admire both of Oregon’s U.S. Senators,Ron Wyden (D) and Gordon Smith (R). As for who I admire least…..that’s a wholeseparate post in itself. Presbyterian My life philosophy: "F*ck ‘em if they can’t take a joke" (I think Bette Midler said itoriginally) It changes from week to week, but right now I’d like to hug Gillian Anderson. I only get to punch ONE person? Have to get back to you on that.

[KQuest] - 09:29pm Apr 27, 2000 EST (#1265 of 2088)
I live in Southern California.

I am a trainer and training coordinator for a non-profit corporation. I hope to beginteaching in other settings, soon.

I am Single. I work with at-risk kids and teach others to work more effectively with them.

Political affiliation --- Disillusioned, but determined to remain part of the process.Seriously, I vote for the person who holds a stand that I can support on "most" of theissues I feel are critical. I often end up voting Democrat or Independent. I have voted for acouple of local "greenies".

I wish that human nature were such that social democracy could be a successfulalternative.

I love various outdoor activities , music, reading, travel, art museums, and my computer.

Admire in politics---ha, ha. With the nature of the modern day 'beast', it gets harder eachyear to find someone admirable. But---I do admire: Dead (easier)---Gandhi, M. L. King, C.Chavez, Sequoyah, & Elizabeth I Admire, Living (harder)---T Blair (England), ShirleyChisolm, who else??? (I need to think about this one?)

Admire least---(Living) Probably, Jesse Helms, Clarence Thomas---(Dead) Adolph Hitler,Senator McCarthy. Not a personel thing...Many of their views are just very much inopposition to my own. Again, a question that needs more thought and/or research.

Religious Beliefs?---eclectic...I'm not much of a 'follower' I hold a general belief insomething too immense to be boxed or pigeon-holed. Couldn't a true supreme being takemany (unlimited) forms to meet many needs? I try to live according to the tenets I set formyself. I admire many aspects of various forms of Buddhism and Hinduism, but do notconsider myself a "follower" of either.

Philosophy of life? Also eclectic. Karma is alive and well. Adding to chaos makes no sense.Live the best life you can...because YOU decide it is the right thing to do. Treat others asyou wish to be treated by them...i.e. model what you want returned to you. All life movestoward entrophy, why hasten the process? Be a proactive, creative force, even when it ismore difficult...which is often.

Shake one hand?? Not sure who...or why. Nelson Mandela. Also, maybe, Elizabeth I, AlbertEinstein, King Hussein I, or David Duncan (Carl Sagan)...if any of them were alive. Thereare several people I admire, but it's more of a head thing...no need for personal contact.

Punch/slap one person? No one, really. It would serve no purpose for me.

Geeze, do I sound BORING!!! Ha, ha.

The above posts brought to you by Blankman...

Allow me to introduce him. His name is Billy Russell. He's a lonely old man who appears tolack even the most remedial of social skills, and thus alienates all who encounter him. Heclaims to be a former employee of the federal government, but that is still in dispute. Atany rate, we are far better off since the addition of "former" to that description. He seemsto thrive on adverse attention, and it may stem from the ridicule to which he wassubjected in the shower room of his 7th grade gym class. The most common taunt was thathe was really flat-chested for a girl.

Dang, Bill. I realize every blank post is a memorial to each empty booze bottle you'vepolished off. You must be chuggin' big time tonight!

I'm sure I'd be sittin' around posting blank posts if I lived in Hawaii and was a retireddouble not spy like yourself.

But you're not, are you? You didn't graduate from Annapolis and you weren't a Marineaviator.

If you were, I mean if you really were all those things, you wouldn't be pulling this crap.People who really did those things tend to have a little more honor.

You have absolutely none.

Which makes me sure you are none of those things you claim. Do me a favor, stopdishonoring those who really were those things...or put your money where your mouth isand stop acting like a spoiled 8 year old.

Liberal Democrat Until My Brain Fully Developed [Motorcop] - 06:23pm May 29, 2000 EST (#1294 of 2088)
I live near Sacramento in a 55+ retirement community. Real name is Dale. Retired fromtwo Fortune 100 corporations and also worked in direct marketing for a fairly large mailorder company owned by a family member. Married 34 years - 2 sons, 33 and 30 (soon). One a police officer/narcotics detective; the other a credit/collections manager for amajor credit card issuing company. Political philosophy: Registered Democrat/liberalfrom 1961 to 1990. When the Democratic Party moved away from the center of US politicalspectrum, changed to Republican. Have become more conservative as the obvious failuresof liberalism have become more and more evident. Most admired President is RR; leastadmired is WJC. Other than President, admire Churchill, Kissinger, Truman, Ike. Believethe Kennedys are collectively the most hypocritical force in US politics. Religion: Catholicbut not church attender. Philosopy of life - do your duty to family, community andcountry. Use your mind to study issues before making decisions (like who to vote for).Would like to shake the hand of the greatest living citizen of this century, John Paul II.Would like to slap that haughty, superior little smile from the uplifted chin and face ofHillary Clinton (and pray that the people of New York see through that carefully craftedpublic personna to the Saul Alinsky adherent she really is). For fun play golf on ourresident owned course and travel extensively (Europe three times in the last 13 months).Collect cameras and take a lot of pictures (one of my small pensions comes from that bigfilm company in Rochester, NY where I worked for 13 years in sales of graphic artsproducts).

[321zziL] - 08:15pm May 29, 2000 EST (#1295 of 2088)
OK, let me see…first of all, my name is Frank -- not Liz. I wound up with this particularpseudo name because I had all kinds of trouble building a login when I first startedposting here (about a year ago). 321zzil is actually the second name that I have usedcontaining this particular combination of characters. The name came from metransposing my pseudo name and password several times while trying to build my login. Also, I did dummy up my personal profile on these boards last year when everyone had tore-establish their login during the big software upgrade but the Hot Mail address is a validway to get in touch with me.

I have lived in New Hampshire for almost twenty years but I was born and grew up in aplace called Charlestown, Massachusetts (which is part of Boston). After graduating highschool in 1965, I spent four years in the navy and went to Vietnam in 1969. I have workedfor the Telephone Company and have been a memeber of the IBEW since 1970. I ammarried and have one child – a fifteen-year-old daughter. Also, I have just completed anassociates degree program (it took me almost five years) and I graduated last week with a3.96 GPA.

I do not like either major political party (I will probably write-in McCain’s name inNovember) but I stayed registered as a Democrat because my dear, departed, Irish mothertold me that we were Democrats while I was growing up. However, I believe she wouldhang her head in shame if she could see what the Democratic Party has now come to standfor. And, I know that she would be the first to impeach that slug they elected president. However, I don’t want to let you know how I really feel about our current administration.

Politically, I am conservative but I am liberal when it comes to things like social securityand the environment. I am in favor of a small federal government and local control ofthings like our school system. I am Pro Life.

For fun I enjoy playing guitar – flatpicking. I do not play in a band or anything like that,I just enjoy getting together with my daughter (she plays violin) and playing some of theold Bluegrass songs. I am also interested in things of a scientific nature and I subscribe toScientific American, Astronomy, and National Geographic but not Time.

Right now, I would have to say that the person I admire the most in politics is JohnMcCain. I never thought I would find a politician that was less admirable than RichardNixon but then, along came Bill Clinton. In the end, I believe that Nixon was at least a goodAmerican.

I am Catholic.

My philosophy of life is pretty much – do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.Love thy neighbor etc. I also like -- You live, you learn. And -- when you’ve got nothing, you’ve got nothing to loose.

I would like to hug Mother Theresa or Sister Mary Rose McGeady.

I really do not want to punch or slap anyone.

Sorry for this long post but I have been tied up with school work for the past year and Ifelt like I had a little catching up to do. Happy Memorial Day, Pathfinder’s, and go hug aveteran if you haven’t already.

Well, welcome aboard Frank. :-)

321zziL (or Frank, whichever you prefer) --

Sister Mary Rose McGeady.

Is she the one who currently heads up Covenant House? If so, I agree -- she seems like amarvelous person....

when the whip comes down [ex-glencarr] - 08:21pm May 30, 2000 EST (#1299 of

Sister Mary Rose McGready does indeed send me lotsa mail about Covenant House.

[SusieQueue] - 08:30pm May 30, 2000 EST (#1300 of 2087)

You don't have to ANSWER it, glencar. *G*

There would be a LOT more kids in even more serious trouble these days without anorganization like Covenant House. I thought you were an advocate of charitableorganizations -- rather than government -- taking on responsibilities like that?

when the whip comes down [ex-glencarr] - 08:33pm May 30, 2000 EST (#1301 of
2087)

LOL I do answer it. I send lotsa money. Charity rocks!

[SusieQueue] - 08:37pm May 30, 2000 EST (#1302 of 2087)

.*G* So do I. I guess you fooled me with the "McGREADY" comment...

It's really a VERY good outfit, IMHO.

[321zziL] - 08:39pm May 30, 2000 EST (#1303 of 2087)

Hi Susie, I'll answer to Frank or the 321 name and yes, she is the one that sends the lettersevery month. Do you read them? I find some of the stories quite remarkable. I only wish Icould afford to send her more. She has been taking care of those kids for a long time and,in my opinion, she deserves a big hug.

when the whip comes down [ex-glencarr] - 08:40pm May 30, 2000 EST (#1304 of
2087)

No, no, I am pretty sure that's her actual name! As a good RC, I detest those who make funof religious leaders.

when the whip comes down [ex-glencarr] - 08:41pm May 30, 2000 EST (#1305 of

BTW Welcome aboard Frank!

[SusieQueue] - 08:45pm May 30, 2000 EST (#1306 of 2087)

She took over from "Father Bruce" maybe 10 years ago? Unfortunately, he left theorganization under rather poor circumstances. She has done a terrific job rebuilding theorganization.

She deserves more than a hug....

Glencarr, you know Sundance as well as I do. He's really a conservative wannabemascarading as a liberal that is afraid to come out of the closet. ;-^)

when the whip comes down [ex-glencarr] - 09:56pm Jun 6, 2000 EST (#1323 of 2086)

LOL Cooter. If only! No, he's a liberal who is fairminded. It's hard not to fall into teh trap ofdefending one's side no matter what (see Babette...) but he admirably avoids said trap.

I just wanted to needle him a little Glen. Sundance has always been one of my morefavorite posters. The thing that I think I like most about him is he's fair. Would that we allwere all the time! LMAO!!

LOL Cooter. Fairness is a rare commodity.

LOL, Cooter. Since I know you are a conservative, I’ll take that as a compliment.

And ex-glencarr, thank you for your kind words. I haven’t been able to convince some ofthe liberals on this board that there are the loony "conservatives" and the cool peoplewho just disagree with liberals. I find that there are just as many loony "liberals". ButCooter is wrong in thinking that I’m a conservative afraid to come out of the closet ;-)

McDuffy asked: "Flamenco dancing?? "

Yes, that and Salsa. Both are very romantic and sexy. A hint to the guys: romance is theway to a woman’s heart. Whether you are trying to get that hot woman you just met intobed, or rekindle the love of your wife of ten years, all she wants is a little romance. Do itand you will never be sorry. Don’t do it, and I will take her from you.

[McDuffy] - 10:16pm Jun 12, 2000 EST (#1333 of 2086)
Hi Mr. Dance Yes, that and Salsa. Both are very romantic and sexy. ooh la la Don’t do it, and I will take her from you. Look out! Sundance is moving in!

Air Talamh Siochaint (Peace on Earth) [Sundance] - 10:44pm Jun 12, 2000 EST (#1334 of 2086)

Not really, McDuffy. I’m only one person. What I meant was, if a man treats his womanbadly, he shouldn’t be surprised if someone like me moves in. Someone who knows whatshe wants. Someone who knows how to give it to her.

All I’m saying is that if a man loves his woman, he should make the effort to romance her.Make her feel special, sexy. Make her feel like she is the most important person in theworld to him. She is. So why not make her feel that way?

I should be a marriage counselor.

[McDuffy] - 10:49pm Jun 12, 2000 EST (#1335 of 2086)

I knew what you were saying Sundance. :-) I should be a marriage counselor. oooh, yes you should lol So Sundance,

How does a sweet shy young gal like me go about finding a nice man? I sort of have a fear,ya know? I feel like I have to be around a guy for a while first in order to date him.(maybe even months) Like in school or maybe... pffft. I guess school is the only place. lol I don't buy that meeting in a grocery store bit.

Air Talamh Siochaint (Peace on Earth) [Sundance] - 11:14pm Jun 12, 2000 EST (#1336 of 2086)

All women have a fear, McDuffy. It's one thing that many men understand. They knowthat they are harmless and only have good intentions but figure you automatically thinkthey are dangerous (and they sit at home a lot – good men who you would like to meet).Where do you meet? Yes, at the grocery store. At the post office. Every interaction youhave with men in everyday life is a chance for love. At church, or synagogue, at the gasstation. Just be open to interaction.

The thing is, McDuffy, most men are afraid to approach you in these situations. They areafraid that they will scare you. Men are very aware of the fear women have for strangemen. They would rather respect your privacy than to scare you.. These are nice guys. Theones you want to meet. I know these men. They are good men. It is rare that you will comeacross men like me. We know the game, but we are players. We will set up dates with you.But we are not the men you should be with. We will break your heart.

[McDuffy] - 11:20pm Jun 12, 2000 EST (#1337 of 2086)

Now, you're confusing me Sundance.

I thought your type is the kind that I would want to be with.

So you're saying that you're a player? :-)

Air Talamh Siochaint (Peace on Earth) [Sundance] - 11:31pm Jun 12, 2000 EST (#1338 of 2086)

Now, McDuffy, when did I say that? My type is the kind you want to avoid. I’m saying thatyour ultimate romance maybe the guy you talk to at the post office, or the grocery store. He maybe the guy you never looked at twice before. You can have a whirlwind romancewith me, but I’m not the marrying kind. You're looking for a life mate.

[McDuffy] - 11:39pm Jun 12, 2000 EST (#1339 of 2086)

ooooh, a whirlwind romance with you sounds kind of exciting. lol :-) but I’m not the marrying kind. >

hmmmm Can I play the counselor now Sundance? Why is this Sundance? Because of something that happened? Why wouldn't you want to have a life mate? Even later on?

Air Talamh Siochaint (Peace on Earth) [Sundance] - 11:42pm Jun 12, 2000 EST (#1340 of 2086)

You may play counselor now if you like. I am playing the field until I find the rightwoman. Is that okay with you?

Right now, I'm into the game.

[McDuffy] - 11:44pm Jun 12, 2000 EST (#1341 of 2086)
You may play counselor now if you like. I am playing the field until I findthe right woman. Is that okay with you?

Hey, that's fine by me. lol :-)

But that doesn't seem to be like a "forever playing the field" thing like I thought you weresaying before.

It seems as if you're playing to win.

Air Talamh Siochaint (Peace on Earth) [Sundance] - 11:47pm Jun 12, 2000 EST (#1342 of 2086)

Hehe. Isn’t everyone?
[McDuffy] - 11:52pm Jun 12, 2000 EST (#1343 of 2086)

Well actually... lol

Most people are I'm sure. :-)

I guess it depends on their definition of "win".

Air Talamh Siochaint (Peace on Earth) [Sundance] - 12:00am Jun 13, 2000 EST (#1344 of 2086)

Well, McDuffy, I think most guys see their chances with women as hit or miss. I don’t. I’mdating three women right now and I’m hitting on three others. I don’t leave anything tochance.

I know that once I find the woman I want to spend all my time with I will stop this. SureI’ll still flirt, but I’m an honest man who believes in true love.

[McDuffy] - 12:24am Jun 13, 2000 EST (#1345 of 2086)

I suppose that's the most important thing. :-) And yep, true love seems hard to find.
Air Talamh Siochaint (Peace on Earth) [Sundance] - 12:32am Jun 13, 2000 EST (#1346 of 2086)

True love is the goal. There is nothing more romantic than true love.

[McDuffy] - 12:45am Jun 13, 2000 EST (#1347 of 2086)

http://www.overgrow.com/ [Oregon_Jim] - 12:47am Jun 13, 2000 EST (#1348 of 2086)

There is nothing more romantic than true love

Sure there is - a woman with large breasts, a morally-casual attitude toward sex on thefirst date and either an expense-account or a trust-fund.
